Safety – Important Information for Pressure Washer Users
Your pressure washer is a powerful and effective cleaning tool — but like any power equipment, it must be used with care. Always read your user manual before operating, storing, or servicing your pressure washer. It contains essential safety information and hazard symbols that help prevent damage and injury.
While many safety precautions may seem like common sense, they are easy to overlook in the middle of a job — and there may be critical details you weren’t aware of. High-pressure cleaning is efficient, but it also involves serious risks if not used properly.
Below are some important safety reminders:
Electricity & Water Don’t Mix
- Ensure that all power cables — especially extension cords — are dry, undamaged, and kept away from puddles or wet surfaces.
- Only use outdoor-rated extension cords designed for high power loads (min. 2.5 mm² conductor).
- Never operate the machine with wet hands or in heavy rain.
- In case of service and repair: Unplug power outlet and water source.
Inspect Before Use
- Check that the high-pressure hose is in good condition with no cuts, bulges, or leaks.
- Make sure the spray handle, lance, and all nozzles are securely connected before starting.
- Never bypass safety locks or modify the equipment.
- Fully unwind both the extension cord and the pressure washer’s power cable before use.
Spray Direction & Control
- Always check that nozzles are securely attached — a loose nozzle can come off at high speed and cause serious injury.
- Begin spraying toward the ground and never aim at people, pets, glass, vehicles, or electronics.
- Maintain full control of the spray handle at all times to prevent accidental injury or damage.
- Keep a safe distance from children, pets, and bystanders.
- Avoid spraying fragile or pressure-sensitive surfaces like wood trim, painted areas, vents, outlets, and garden items.
Personal Protection
- Wear sturdy clothing, non-slip boots, and safety goggles to guard against splashback and flying debris.
- Use gloves to improve grip and protect your hands — especially in cold or wet conditions.
Child Safety
- Activate the child safety lock on the spray handle whenever it's not in use.
- Never leave the machine running or unattended.
- Do not leave the pressure washer in standby mode (main switch on) without supervision.
Working at Height
- Do not lift the machine onto roofs or ladders. Use longer hoses or extension lances to reach high areas.
- A falling unit, or one pulled down by its hose, can cause serious injury. Always keep the machine securely on the ground.
Water Source & Detergents
- Use only clean water to prevent clogging or damage to the pump.
- Use only detergents approved for your model. Never mix chemicals unless specifically instructed.
- Avoid skin and eye contact with any cleaning agents.
Operation Warnings
- Do not continue using the pressure washer if it runs continuously without load or pulses more than once per minute.
- Unusual or metallic sounds may indicate internal damage — stop use immediately and contact support.
Safety During Repairs and Maintenance
- Always unplug power and disconnect water before repairing or opening any part of the machine.
- Pull the trigger on the spray handle to release any remaining pressure.
- Work on a clean, dry surface that can handle minor water spills.
- Using incorrect parts or tools can damage the unit and void your warranty.
- If you notice leaks, damaged cables, or unusual noises — stop use and contact authorised service personnel.
- Never begin disassembly before the unit is fully cooled and depressurised.
- If changing the oil, handle it as hazardous and environmentally harmful waste. Dispose of it in accordance with local regulations and avoid direct skin contact.
After Use
- Rinse the accessories and lightly wipe over the machine to ensure there are no chemical residues left.
- Turn off the machine and release remaining pressure from the spray handle in a safe direction before disconnecting any accessories.
- Store the machine and all parts in a dry, frost-free area, out of direct sunlight.
